I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been given the opportunity {and developed the nerve} to go freelance full time. This marks a new rather grown-up phase in my career and as a result I’m now in charge of numbers, receipts and other complicated things like that. Read the rest of this entry »

2010 is shaping up to be a very promising year- and I couldn’t be more excited… and nervous. After what seemed like a hard toil to nowhere, the last nine months have shifted in a new and positive direction. Read the rest of this entry »

I am pleased to announce the final sign-off on a feature article for The Scottish Hosteller. This magazine, sponsored by the SYHA (Scottish Youth Hostel Association) celebrates the best in Scottish travel and tourism. My article will appear in the Spring/Summer edition issued by PSP Publishing. New Editor-in-Chief Amy Wellens was a good communicator and provided great feedback on the project. A small writer’s bio with mugshot has been submitted to page three.
I find the beginning of the year to be an exciting time full of possibilities. I always make a list of things I’d like to achieve by the time the bells ring in at hogmanay. Travel, work and meeting new people are important to me. In truth, work takes up a lot of space on the list. I usually hope for new projects and so far I have been fortunate. I realise that in order to secure new work I need to free up my time, therefore after a year and a half with Cinema Without Borders I resigned from my role as Blog Editor. I have enjoyed writing articles on film, creating press releases and having an active voice in the CWB community. My thanks go to Editor Bijan Tehrani for the opportunity.
After promising to relax over the festive season, I found myself saying yes to a last minute batch of writing assignments. These are now in my outbox and with a sad farewell to a long term freelance client I am closing up shop for Christmas.
I will be available from January the 4th, please feel free to email details of all forthcoming projects- until then Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Last week Ryan Falconer; entrepreneurial wizard from Mediaroots and founder of digital creative agency Unleaded emailed with details of an urgent copy project. He needed a short bio written for an upcoming event. The turnaround was quick and 5 hours later we (virtually) shook hands on a job well done. He has since been in touch with additional work which I hope develops into a trusted freelance relationship.
I have been shortlisted in the Writing Category for a Golden Twits Award: a scheme that aims to celebrate the best in Twittering. I am very pleased and will be attending the ceremony on Nov 26th in Fabric, London.
